Hey guys, long time no see

So i see a lot of hate over the Tavern Pass. But what i don't understand is that people just go with their gut feeling or repeat what others say without even using their own brain (which according to a lot of comments on this site not that many people have).

So instead of just saying "OMG Blizz betrayed us" let numbers talk.

So I just hit level 100 on the reward track. That's 228,700 EXP gained since the reward track was introduced in the end of Novemver '20 almost 2 months ago. The Tavern Pass gives me +20% EXP boost so roughly 45,000 EXP. Without that EXP I would be level 69 now (nice btw). The 31 extra levels granted me 1550 Gold, so let's say 15 packs. 15 packs cost 20€ in EU. You know what also costs 20€? That's right, the Tavern Pass
So I payed the same amount as 15 packs would cost me plus i got the cosmetic stuff. So if we say i play approximately the same until April when the Pass most likely expires all in all I'll get around 25 packs for the cost of 15 plus cosmetics.

So what does all that mean?

Well if you're hardcore F2P I guess nothing.
But if you are the kind of guy, that every now and then spends some money on the game, the Tavern Pass really could be worth it depending on how much you play.

And what I really don't understand is that a lot of streamers that spend hundreds of moneys on the game say "don't buy the Pass it's a waste of money" when they already could've made double the value in packs if they bought the Pass.

Actually, the cosmetics are all pretty mediocre except for the warrior one.

Also, doesn't matter how much more exp you get, the level cap is still 350, so the people who bot or auto-click don't need the 20% boost.

In addition, the extra packs (assuming you spend the extra gold for packs) you get from the 20% boost don't necessarily translate to as much value as you might think, because of duplicate protection and diminishing returns.

However, it is slightly more efficient if you enjoy paying blizzard every now and then, but keep in mind this is on top of your pre-orders every four month, so if you are rich or have no other hobbies, go for it.

So all in all, nice try blizzard employee. =-)

I cannot say I like the new skins (even those at level 50), as they feel too cheap.
When it comes to the Tavern Pass and the +20% EXP increase, it amounts to 20€ for 15-25 packs (~20 packs depending on how much time you spend on the game). And honestly,20€ even for 25 (2500G) packs is nothing to brag home about (considering you actually have to play to get the extra experience).I passed on the "Tavern Pass" and will pass again. I'm at level 60, and almost 4K gold after purchasing the "mini-expansion".

Overall, I'm sure it appeals to the collectors, and that's what Blizzard had in mind. But I can't imagine as much for most people who spend a reasonable amount of time and money on this game.
It simply boils down to "cosmetics" that everyone with the pass receives or actual value. And I can't find the value in 25 (2500G) packs for20€ over the course of 3-4 months, where I'm forced to play to earn my rewards. Sometimes I take a break from Hearthstone, other times I don't, but that would diminish my gains on the pass.

That is a very good point. It was difficult to estimate the value of the pass beforehand, but now it seems clear that for any paying player who averages at least a few hours per week, the pass should be the first thing to buy with every set.

I disagree if the cap stays at 350, almost literally no reason whatsoever to get it.

Since I started working from home I play everyday throughout the day and the pass has been invaluable to me for the gold rewards.

Prior to this I found myself having to wait for quests to come up just to make the 150g entry into Arena. I almost always bottomed out after piling up a few hundred G. Now I can play Arena and Duels basically anytime I want during the month without having to wait for more gold to come in.

The skins don't really make a difference when you're like me and the majority of your heroes have 1000 wins.

The gold is clutch and worth every dollar.

Who tf is getting to 350 through normal play?

The experience needed to get to 350 equals out to at LEAST 1100 hours of gameplay if you're making the max xp per hour (400).

That is 280 hours a month, or 9 hours of Hearthstone every day.

Literally no one who isn't a streamer will ever hit 350.

Well, there's the 900-1000 XP daily from Daily Quests, and then there's the 5500 from Weekly Quests every week. So saying you get 2 low roll quests weekly, that's 12,300 XP weekly if you just complete quests.

12,300 x 17 weeks estimated between expansions is 208,900 XP from quests alone.

Now if you subtract that from the roughly 440,000 you say is needed to hit 350, you get 231,100 remaining XP needed through play time.

You can achieve such numbers through roughly 144 hours per month, or roughly 6 hours of Hearthstone per day.

That is a large amount of time, but more hardcore players would find it much more feasible to do than the 9 hours previously assumed from just play time alone.

(Keep in mind I'm going off the numbers you provided, as I am not super familiar with the XP system and if the Tavern Pass affects these numbers or not, so I apologize if my numbers are off.)

I have a question about the Tavern Pass. Is it a one time purchase and you have it for every expansion? I wouldn't think so, but I'm hopeful.

No, the tavern pass is just like a normal battle pass. You have to buy a new one with every expansion.

Thanks boss, but I already subtracted those. The total xp to reach 350 is 603,700 xp before counting quests and achieves

I think the amount of people who reach that number are extreme outliers and nowhere close to the norm.

It's not like a normal Battle Pass.

Let's take the Battle Pass of Call of Duty: Warzone for example.

You pay 20 euros for the Battle Pass, but it's a one-time payment only. If you reach level 100 of the Battle Pass you received enough in-game currency to buy the next Battle Pass with in-game money.

In this case, because there are no in-game currencies, you have to spend 20 euros every four months.

    Big difference.

The Tavern Pass XP boost gives you enough extra gold to buy 20 euros' worth of cards, so yeah, it's pretty much the same.
